NAB Report: Envivio Reaches out to Broadcasters with Muse iTV
Video-over-IP company Envivio reached out to broadcasters during the 2012 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show, which ends today in Las Vegas, 内华达. The company debuted Envivio Muse iTV, an extension of its product lineup. "TV Everywhere" is the idea of the moment, and this offering aims to help broadcasters deliver to any device, including smartphones and tablets.
Broadcast is a big push for Envivio, says vice president of internet television Matt Smith. With this release, Enivio is telling broadcasters that it's not just for service providers, and has added features to answer their needs. For example, source timecode 信息 is available in different multiscreen formats. That's something that's critical to broadcasters, notes Smith.
Envivio Muse iTV also includes SCTE 35/104 ad insertion for OTT video, supporting TV Everywhere and smart TV apps. Smith was passionate about adding SCTE 35/104 for this release, and believes it will be a "game-changer."
With more broadcast content moving to IP, broadcasters need a way to block content that isn't licensed for online use. For that reason, Envivio Muse iTV includes blackout support. It's a future-looking feature, says Smith. The new features come from Smith's conversations with Broadcasters about their needs. Select networks and sports leagues have been testing the product for six weeks and are pleasantly surprised, 史密斯说.
